I am a husband and a father to four amazing young children.  I am looking for funds to help pay medical bills and living expense debt that started to accumulate beginning in late 2020.
In late November 2020 I was admitted to the ER where I was diagnosed with a very dangerous stage of diverticulitis.  If you are unfamiliar with this issue, it can affect anybody randomly and must be medically treated as it progresses.  It prevents proper movement of bodily waste and often it is just treated with antibiotics and a liquid diet for a week.  This was not the case with me.
Unfortunately for me, my diverticulitis went undiagnosed, and therefore untreated, for far too long.  For 30 days at the end of 2020, I was in and out of the hospital with a worsening and very serious septic condition.  On December 31st, 2020, the doctors ultimately decided that they must perform emergency surgery as I had not been able to eat for over an entire month and there were no signs of the condition improving.  I had already lost over 25 pounds.  I was in grave pain.  I was barely functioning.  It was awful, my life was on the line.
Before the surgery, my wife was told there was no guarantee I would make it.  It was a horrible and scary moment for us.
Luckily, I was in great hands, my surgery team and nurses were exceptional.  My wife and I and our four children can not thank them enough.
Here are the Post-Op Notes from my medical chart- “Exploratory laparoscopy converted to open laparotomy; partial sigmoid resection creation of Hartman’s pouch; debridement of abscess cavity involving portion of dome of the bladder; bladder repair and sigmoid colostomy intraoperative colonoscopy preoperative cystoscopy and stent placement”.
They were amazing and I obviously survived but I will never be the same physically.  After that surgery, I spent a month in the hospital to recover from a massive surgery that left me with part of my colon and bladder removed and an open wound (from my pelvis to my chest) that took months to close and heal.  In April 2021 I needed a second surgery to remove the colostomy bag.  After that, finally, I was able to begin my slow and painful physical rehab.  Just walking was an achievement!
All of these procedures and time spent in the hospital, not to mention the massive amounts of medicine and assistance needed while there (and at home while stuck in bed), and rehabbing cost a fortune.  To add to this, I was unable to work for about 9 months while I suffered through the condition and then worked hard on rehabbing my body.
So I am here asking for help.  The money raised will help pay off massive medical bills and living expense debt that accrued during about a year of this fight.  I thank you for anything you can give.
