My mother, Marilyn, has advanced basil cell carcinoma on the right side of her face. It has grown so much that she has lost her vision in that eye, and most of that side of her face it has consumed. She can not eat well because it has invaded the roof of her mouth and most of her jaw on that side. She worked in Childcare for the same company for 17yrs as a loving teacher to toddlers. Unfortunately, she is unable to do this anymore as of January 2023. She is being seen by a wonderful oncologist at the Mays Cancer Center in San Antonio, Texas, and has started taking Chemotherapy pills in hopes it will shrink the cancer and then, hopefully, some type of reconstructive surgery. She has lived in the same home for over 20 years and continues to stay there with the help of her children, raising money to pay for her bills and only has her SSI check to rely on. She is the most loving mom, nana, and person you could ever meet. We have done fundraisers and have managed to keep her in her home, but we are running out of ways to raise money and are hoping to be able to raise money to pay her bills for a few months. Thank you in advance for your kindness.
