My family is struggling to pay rent which is $3,700 mo. and the apartment management is currently renting the same at $2,800 mo. Because our rent is so high, we find ourselves in need to catch up on paying the utilities. This situation has made it so we have been unable to keep up with basic necessities. The apartment management has been threatening to evict us and will soon take us to court. We need to hire a lawyer to ward off the eviction and try to have the apartment management reduce the rent to a fair amount.
What happened???
Myself & my wife decided to help our daughter and her two children (ages 3 years old and 1 year old) by moving into a 3-bdrm apartment. Unfortunately, our timing was poor and due to the pandemic, we moved when there were no choices available. In addition, I have been unable to work due to injuries sustained in the Navy, so I have been unable to contribute to my family in their time of need. We have asked the apartment management to assist us by lowering the rent, to no avail. I never thought it would come to this. However, we need to fight the apartment management by hiring a lawyer and catching up on basic utilities. My 3-year-old grandson has been diagnosed with high-functioning Autism and severe ADHD. He is the sweetest little boy who loves dinosaurs. I fear that we may be evicted with nowhere to go. My hope is to assist my grandson. He is currently getting help through the state. I would prefer him getting the medical help through private channels.
In addition to our situation, we have been trying to help my 73-year-old mother-in-law survive by sending her money whenever available. Unfortunately, that has not been possible the last few months. She has been living off her meager pension. Our goal is to one day have her move in with us, so we can care for her.
Anything to assist us is greatly appreciated.
