My father is 97 years old. Harry served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He is the living breathing definition of a marine. He always keeps his chin up and has a great spirit for life. His mind is able, it is his body that has betrayed him.
He is bedridden, homebound, needs help with personal hygiene, and the simple act of turning over or sitting requires help. Yet, he is as cheeky as every and still concerned with the welfare of everyone else in his life.
We have acquired full time care for Harry, but his money has run out. His life savings was spent to care for him for the last year, and we are now in a crisis to financially support him and the care he needs. We don’t know what God has planned for the remainder of Dad’s life, but we know he needs to remain in his own home, with the loving care of the caregivers who have been working with him for the last year.
With great optimism we are asking for enough money to care for Dad for a year. We are all amazed at the fact he has remained with us for as long as he has. Marines are tough. Even death has to play by a Marine’s rules.
