My father Ulysess Norman Jr was a retired military veteran only 52 years old, he was very loveable, a great father, a great grandfather and friend. My father only had two children which is me and my brother. My father was found at our home in Alabama deceased Feb 21st, 2021, outside on our back porch. The police did arrive at the scene however a coroner did not show up to the home and he was not taken to the hospital to be pronounced deceased by a doctor.
My family was unaware that my father was dead because my entire family was in Florida waiting for my father’s arrival, we had plans to see him that weekend to have a great time. My family eventually found out by several Facebook posts that my father was no longer alive.
My family was never notified by the police that my father was dead. After calling around the city of Montgomery we discovered that my father was taken directly to the funeral home, and he wasn’t given an autopsy under the orders of his ex-girlfriend Waconda Nolan. After she failed to have his body donated to science, she requested that my father be immediately cremated before we could make it from Florida to Alabama to prevent us from seeing him and saying goodbye.
My family arrived to Alabama and was able to stop all of Waconda’s plans. My family wanted to know the cause of my father’s death, because we suspected foul play; his clothes were changed, and his face was washed so we requested to have a private autopsy conducted after we viewed his body. The funeral home referred my brother and I to Adel Shaker to perform the Autopsy.
While my family waited for the autopsy results our family was contacted by the funeral home just days before my father’s funeral to come and pick up the cremains of my father. The problem was my family never requested for my father to be cremated, and we made clear plans with the funeral home that we planned to have our father taken back to Florida so he can be buried in a military cemetery in Jacksonville Fl.
Since the funeral home cremated our father wrongly, they also refused to accommodate my family with any type of arrangements or to acknowledge my brother and I as authorizing parties. The funeral home also refused to refund the money paid to do the service.
My family then had to plan our father’s funeral by ourselves, we purchased a permit to rent out a park and contacted the Navy to do a military style ceremony. All my father’s work family attended however the ex-girlfriend didn’t attend she was busy going on lavish shopping sprees with my father’s credit cards she stole from him.
Our family put in a complaint with the Alabama Board of funeral home services, an investigation was conducted, and it was discovered that my father was cremated before I even contacted the coroner Adel Shaker and paid him to do the autopsy. Our family then questioned if the autopsy was even ever performed because it was no transportation log of my father being transported to Huntsville AL to get the autopsy, or to Birmingham AL to be cremated.
Since the autopsy results were not back our father wasn’t issued out a death certificate by the state of Alabama in the required 5 days. Since the ex-girlfriend was at the home the day my father died, she was able to obtain his wallet, cell phone, and all personal documentation which she used to compromise all my father’s accounts which she wasn’t authorized on. She cleared out our entire front and back home within 2 days stole over 400,000 worth of property, and the 17 cars my father had owned and insured. She also eventually moved an entire family in our home which she collects monthly rent from.
She has compromised his Navy Federal, USAA, Max Credit Union, all the credit cards he owned including new credit cards she ordered. She was even able to add her bank information on all of his accounts with the Housing Authority to obtain all his direct deposits from his rental properties. All of the mail was forward to her address in Georgia. Our family went to the local Police, City Investigations, USPS, FBI several times however no one would help, we were informed that it wasn’t a criminal matter, that it is a civil matter.
Eventually I was emailed a copy of the autopsy report from Adel Shaker, and I questioned everything about it, nothing looked legit. I was also made aware by the coroner himself that he “accidently” sent the private autopsy results to the ex-girlfriend (that we suspected of killing my father) a month earlier.
Apparently after Waconda got the results from the coroner, she took the autopsy results and provided them to the funeral home which was then provided to vital statistics for my father’s death certificate to be produced and reflect a natural cause of death. She also listed herself as my father’s wife on his death certificate. She ordered 12 death certificates which she then used to conduct fraud on behalf of my father’s estate and assets by filing quit claim deeds to put the many properties he owned in Georgia and Alabama in her name, labeling herself as the loss payee to his insurance policies etc. Despite her being a convicted felon for prior fraud with Georgia Housing Authority. Meanwhile my brother had been court appointed as the Personal Representative over my father’s estate the same week he died.
I eventually found out while watching the news that in Corpus Christi Texas the coroner Adel Shaker had been indicted for falsifying autopsy reports and practicing medicine without a license, that he had victimized several families in the state of Texas by providing them false autopsy reports.
I was in disbelief because when I hired the coroner to do the autopsy on my father, I was told that he was in Huntsville AL I had no knowledge that he lived in the state of Texas.
Fast forward this year March 8, 2024, I was then contacted by the Texas Ranger that conducted the investigation that my father was listed as a subject to the case on Adel Shaker the county coroner of Corpus Christi Texas. It was explained to me that he was able to prove in court that my father never had an autopsy conducted by Adel Shaker that the autopsy results that were provided to me and my family were fake.
My family has been fighting to get Justice and answers for my father in Probate court, and in Circuit Court for the last three years. My brother and I have been covering all legal expenses ourselves despite our inheritance has been stolen, our father’s identity has been compromised and we haven’t gotten any income from my fathers’ estate.
The Montgomery AL coroner who signed off on my father’s death certificate refuses to amend my father’s death certificate to reflect unknown death and unknown manner even though he is aware that the autopsy was never conducted on my father by Adel Shaker.
Right now, our family doesn’t know if the cremains that were provided to us by the funeral home belong to our father or if they are even real. Because of the history of violations of this funeral home our father could be buried in a shallow unidentified grave on their property, or we could have someone else loved one’s cremains.
Our family wants answers, and we also want to be able to begin to grieve. We need help with the legal fees to be properly represented in both courts.
