To my dear friends, family, and community,
I am reaching out to you today to share a journey that I never expected to take. Recently, I was blindsided by a diagnosis of metastatic cancer. It is news that changes everything in an instant, but it has not changed my determination to fight.
I am “in the trenches” right now, but I am facing an additional challenge that makes this battle even harder. Since February, I have been without any income from my job. While I am working through the hurdles of the system, the reality is that cancer does not wait. It doesn’t wait for paperwork to be processed, for disability to be approved, or for insurance to kick in.
The fight is happening now, and I have to be in it every single day, regardless of the resources I have on hand.
The weight of mounting medical bills, combined with the lack of regular income for several months, has created a situation that I cannot manage alone. I am fighting for my health with everything I have, but I need my community to help me bridge the gap so I can focus on what matters most: staying strong and getting through this.
