UPDATE: He has been sent to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta for rehab. He will be there a minimum of 6-8 weeks inpatient and then moved to outpatient for an undetermined amount of time. Mom will be staying with him while he’s there and learning all that we need to know for when he is able to come home.
My dad is Jeff Kiser. He has always been the man that any and everyone can count on for help. He has 5 grandkids that love him dearly and love to annoy and get on his last nerve. He is an employee of the Lawrence County Board of Education as a Maintenance Tech, so he works at all the schools. He is retired from IP as well as Local 760. On July 25th he suffered a Traumatic Spinal Cord injury after a fall at his home. He had a posterior fusion of his C3-C7 the following day. His injury has resulted in paralysis from the chest down. He still has use of his arms but has lost his ability to grasp and hold on to anything. We have been told to wait and see and any improvement that will be made will be in the next 18 months. Financial we were not prepared for something like this, although I don’t think anyone ever is. If anyone would like to help or is able to help at this time we would greatly appreciate it that way our mother can focus on him and not have to worry and stress about anything else. If you aren’t able to donate we understand, times are tough right now but would you at least keep him in your prayers and pray for his recovery. We want him to be able to come home and soon. He is at Huntsville Hospital and fuel is high and I want mom to be able to get there as often as she would like without having to worry about money and what his bills are going to be. Thank you.
