During the first four years, I’ve never asked for, or received any money in my cancer fight. I was able to pay off hospital costs like, CT scans, MRI’s, bone scans, copays, medicine, etc. I was fighting off stage 4 metastasized prostate cancer. It will never go away, but the treatment was very effective. However, within the last 12 months, somehow I developed 7 brain tumors, lung cancer, and spleen cancer to add to my prostate fight My MRI’s, CT scans, bone scans, chemo treatments, doctors visits have all tripled because each cancer is treated with different methods and chemo drugs. I’ve always paid off my balance, but it’s basically impossible now because my only source of income is my SS check. My wife has a secretary job, she works 40 hours a week, but it’s not enough to do much. I’m receiving notice after notice that my balance is way overdue.
Paying for my meds, food, utilities; it’s like a chess game. Our resources have run dry, so I appeal to you. I’m under the care of 3 different oncologist, all of my care is administered through siteman cancer center here in St Louis at BJC (barnes jewish hospital). I continue to fight these cancers in me, but it takes money to make it happen. Please help if you can and I absolutely promise to continue to fight this horrible disease and also continue to share all of my data/results with the medical providers that need the research to help others. Lastly, I have been told by all of my doctors and many other people going through these life changing events that a good and cheerful attitude is very important in anyone’s fight against cancer. So when the chemo fog and sickness wears off(about 4-6 days after treatment) , I want to be able to get out of my house and enjoy every second of life that I can before my next treatment(every 3 weeks) comes around.
