What should have been one of the best days of his life, watching his baby girl turn one, ended up being a day that would change their lives forever. Alex was doubled over in pain and ended up in the hospital instead of at his little girl’s first birthday. He took the time to face time her as she dug into her cake and promised her, he would never miss another birthday. Shortly after, the doctor came in with some devastating news. Alex has an aggressive cancer that has already spread to around his abdominal aorta. Happiness quickly turned to fear.
In that brief moment, life turned upside down. Within a week, they were looking for new housing due to unfit living conditions at their apartment (mold and other issues that would be dangerous to a cancer patient and child.). Within 3 weeks, and multiple tests, scans, and moving, they found themselves in the hole by $6000 not including the upcoming surgery to remove the masses. There is still the unknown of what additional medical procedures will be needed; chemo, radiation, more surgeries??? All while looking for a permanent home.
And to make matters worse, Alex found out that his work does not provide short term disability benefits. So if he doesn’t work & had used all his PTO, he will be without a paycheck. Alex is the primary provider for their family while his fiancé takes care of the house and their baby since daycare is so expensive. Now, at 23 yrs old, she will also be responsible for his care as well.
Please, if you have it in your heart to help this young family make ends meet and get the medical care that Alex so desperately needs it would be greatly appreciated. The campaign is starting at $20,000 knowing that already 1/3rd of that has been spent just on initial testing, assessments & surgery. We have no clue how much all of this is going to cost, but the family is standing behind them and helping in every way possible. Thanks in advance for your prayers, kindness, and help. This family needs the support from the community to have a fighting chance.
July 31, 2026 update: First major surgery is scheduled for August 4th. Thanks to the donations so far, the initial surgery has been covered so it will not be delayed. And volunteers have helped them move into a better living environment for recovery. Through prayer, determination & positive thinking…they are ready for the next steps in this battle. Thank you all!
