Hello most of you know me as a normal guy who always looked towards the future, and passed good deeds along as much as possible. April 8th 2021 was the worst day of my life. A habitual bad driver was driving north on us 41 near Tampa while I was traveling Southbound on my Harley in Lane 1. Fate that day steered the bad driver to cross over into all lanes of my direction of travel and he make a U-Turn. I had no time to react period…. I impacted the car at approx. 45mph we are not sure how fast he was coming towards me since FHP botched the report. I was ejected and landed about 60 ft. from the impact. I was conscious but it was very spotty. I knew I was dying on the hot asphalt that day alone so I tried to calm myself with prayer. With the amazing Hillsborough County rescue Team I was off the ground and at St. Joe’s Main Hospital within 21 minutes a miracle in itself. I arrived with massive internal bleeding, lacerated organs, a destroyed sacral vertebrae and lumbar spine, a open book Pelvic Fracture, and a softball size hole on my lower back that eventfully became infected and worked its way up my spine with my vertebrae’s in plain eye view. I was in a Coma for some time immediately after arriving at the hospital. Once the Team of Doctors’ new I was going to live it took me about 45 days to have some recollection of what happened. Thankfully by then almost all major surgery’s and the external fixating cage was placed so I could not move for 8 weeks. In total I was in the Hospital for 4 months and then a nursing home for a month. The nursing home taught to transfer from the bed to a wheelchair with a board in hopes of going home. All of this was during COVID and made everything worse from no visitors to lack of staff etc….
Now I don’t want to get negative but I have to say our United States Government failed me and my family. Along with the legal and Healthcare system.
Because we were hard working responsible people, we have been able over the last 18 months to keep all our bills up to date and focus on my recovery 100% with personal savings and Credit Cards. However with all that said my recovery isn’t going as I thought it would, thus my desperation asking all you wonderful folks for help. The spinal nerve damage is debilitating and prognosis isn’t great. I am working Part-Time from home with a great company that is trying to help me out. It is a blessing they are very understanding with all my medical appts and daily sickness. I see light at the end of the tunnel but we need to just get there without being homeless and starved.
