I’m writing for one of my patients; he has no clue because he doesn’t ask for help. Little about him, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Navy 91-93. He had his arm broken while there, the war started, and they put off surgery, I don’t know the whole story; it healed around the nerves, and nerve damage now. He has severe PTSD ( getting worse). He doesn’t leave his house till his neighbors need him. This man can’t remember anything, half mobility in his right arm, takes care of both elderly neighbors’ yards till it is dark, repairs their cars, fixes decks, whatever they need, he’s always there. One’s husband was recently paralyzed; he did everything. We know he took on the role of a physical therapist; he goes next door 7 days a week, lifts him up, bathes him, cuts his hair/ beard, does all house repairs, and goes get their medications, and never asks for anything in return. 2days ago, another neighbor was in a bad accident. He dropped everything and raced to the scene; he held her hand and rode to the hospital with her. Now, there is plenty more to be said about this nice man, but I’ll save it. His wife left him 4yrs ago, left him with everything, and 5 months behind on everything, animals too. He has been paying lawyers for his divorce and never complains about how bad it is. I just found out, behind on the house; ready to almost foreclose on it; he has a few grand left on his truck, I just found out , we were gonna repo the nite before, I lent him money for payment, ready to repo the camper. I’m his social worker, and I only found out I saw his mail. I feel so bad; diabetes is 600, he took his CDL cause he’s going blind, it’s in his kidneys and eyes, feet and hands, and he sleeps maybe 3 hrs, so what I’m asking is this man gave us freedom helps everyone, and no one helps him do anything. It’s about time we help him and get some of these bills off him, he deserves a little happiness.
