Unfortunately, she did not inform the authorities that I am his father, so I was not contacted to take custody.
At the time of her arrest, I was out of town picking up my father to assist me in addressing concerns about her well-being, as she had been struggling with prescription medication misuse. Now that she is out of jail, she and her family are seeking legal means to take our son to Louisiana, which would separate him from me.
I am deeply committed to being a positive role model in my son’s life and believe it’s crucial for his well-being to have his father present. However, I face significant financial challenges. Ten years ago, I suffered severe injuries that left me disabled. I broke my back and neck and injured both shoulders. Living on a fixed income, I cannot afford the legal representation needed to ensure my son remains in my life.
