Looking for help with Cancer Medical bills.  Our daughter Kelly Elbel is having to undergo eye surgery for a rare Uveal Melanoma.  Uveal Melanoma is a rare cancer with only 1200 – 1800 new cases per year in the United States.  Her treatment center is in Houston, Texas, one of only two in the state. The treatment requires surgery in her right eye in order to stop this disease and save as much of her vision as possible.  The standard for Uveal Melanoma is as follows:

Consultation with Radiation Oncology at St. Lukes PAT clinic

Building an iodine-125 plaque, which, is a focused radiation applied directly to the eye.

2 surgical procedures- one to place the plaque, and its removal after the treatment.

Ultrasound is used for precise placement, and a biopsy will be performed.

Biopsy of the tumor with full cytological analysis as well as genomic analysis thru Castle Biosciences will give invaluable prognosis for overall survival of the patient.

This special procedure requires several trips from San Antonio to Houston. along with the associated food and lodging expenses. Her treatment will hopefully be brief, however, she will be out of work for at least 3 weeks. She is working as a food server, and has minimal insurance.  The follow up on this requires 7 days of Isolation from people , family and pets. We want to ensure that she can focus on her recovery without the added stress of financial burdens. If you are able, any support would mean the world to us and help Kelly in her journey to see her grandchildren. Thank you for your consideration, and I truly appreciate your kindness.
