Hello, I am Valarie Garza,
As teachers we are normally the one’s giving help and not asking for it, at least not for ourselves. That being said, I find myself in unfamiliar territory. I love my job and working young children, but it has become increasingly harder to do these days. Unfortunately, I need total knee replacement in both knees. Easy fix, so it seems. However, health insurance does not cover what it use to, and even after deductibles are met out-of-pocket expenses are astronomical. Saving money for the surgery for the following year only means having to start over on a $5000.00 dollar deductible again. Thus, lies the dilemma. We have tried other avenues in regard to financing these medical expenses to no avail.
I have accomplished so many things in my life. From raising a beautiful family to beating brain cancer. Being the first generation to go college and graduate is great, but I do not want to stop here. I want to continue to make both of my families proud; (my personal family and my school family). By not quitting I am teaching my children and my students they shine beyond the clouds of adversity. I want to continue to help our future generations thrive, excel, and being the best they can be. So, I am asking for some help to cover the out-of-pocket cost of the surgery and aid in the recovery process. Any help that could be given is not only appreciated by me and family, but also my students.
Thank you,
Valarie Garza
