Hey, all who are reading this!  I recently purchased a gypsy wagon and had it towed from San Dimas to Sylmar to house a friend who has been living in her vehicle with two cats for over a year.  We got lucky this summer when another friend offered her the safety of their property where she could park at night, help with their horses and with a disabled adult in their home.  The motor home that was intended as a residence turned out to be uninhabitable, so she has continued to sleep in her car for the last few months, up until last Tuesday, two days before Thanksgiving, when she gratefully moved into the wagon.  I found the wagon for sale on FB marketplace and luck sided with me when the first people who asked to look at it abandoned pursuit.  I knew I could not afford to pass this by, but I also could ill afford the expenditure; the purchase price of the wagon was $2500 and coupled with trailer rental, towing/labor, I’m down well over $3000.  I’m pretty certain my friend will not be able to reimburse me for this expense, but in the interim, at least I know she’s sleeping better, the cats are happier, and my anxiety about her state of affairs has been mitigated significantly.  If I can secure even partial reimbursement via this platform, then my friend can save her pennies for basic necessities; she is also autistic, so her prospects for work in the wider world are somewhat limited and therefore my seeking reimbursement from her would put further pressure on her already burdened finances.

The wagon has a bed, two bench seats, windows and locking doors and is sitting on the property where she has been residing.  If you can help with this expense, I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in this endeavor.  It’s true what they say: It takes a village!!!

I will shut this page down once I’ve reached my total.  Thanks to all for your consideration!

***As of 12/26/25:  the wagon has proven to be mostly leak-free (Brook just had to get the second tarp on it) and Brook and her cats are staying cozy, warm and happy in her little caravan.  Luckily, she did not move it as she had planned; a huge pepper tree branch came crashing down and smashed the cat cage/kennel that was sitting where Brook was going to move the wagon – crisis narrowly averted!  Please share this campaign with any and all who might be interested in being part of the solution for  at least one disadvantaged person in our midst.  Thank you and Happy New Year to all!***
