Any donation will be greatly appreciated to help Roy (David) Benton’s medical treatment in his fight against the blood marrow cancer called myeloproliferative neoplasm called JAKK 2. This is a gene mutation that causes the body’s stem cells to produce too many red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets. In addition to this recent illness, David has lived with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia since 2010.
David is facing a stem cell transplant procedure in August at Medical City in Dallas, Texas. The process has recently been paused as a search for suitable donors was eventually located.
David recently turned 67 years of age and is a husband, father, and a life-long resident of Weatherford, Texas. David has devoted many long years as a farm machinery technician for Ellis Equipment Company. He has served farmers and ranchers of Parker County for decades in maintaining, servicing, and caring for farm equipment to help them produce the best yields. Many of those rural customers are familiar with David’s dependability to take care of their tractors and equipment needs. David’s wife, Patty, suffered a stroke in 2015 and she is confined to their home. Although David is medically retired now, he has continued to lovingly care for his disabled wife at home since her stroke.
David is a devoted Christian and has been a faithful member of worship teams for Faith and Family Fellowship, Westwood, and Waterhouse, all located in Weatherford. Today he serves his Christian brothers and sisters in dedication to the Lord at Iron Faith Church in Weatherford and also belongs to Honorbound Motorcycle Ministries in Weatherford.
