Fighting Poverty and Illness Through ART & SPORTS!The Lost Children of the Americas is a non-profit organization that Cynthia Libby started in 2006 with the intent of bringing art therapy within a Christian setting to the boys and girls of Jamaica. The idea was then and continues to be a mission that inspires and empowers these abandoned children to create a better world for themselves. The Lost Children of the Americas (LCA) works with as many as 210 young boys and girls between the ages of seven and eighteen who live at three children’s homes on the west side of this island nation. Cynthia travels with her LCA group regularly to Jamaica bringing art supplies, art curriculum, love and care to the children of these homes. Not only do the art lessons deliver a creative skill set, but over the past ten years, there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence that the LCA art projects help build positive self-concepts among these impoverished and abused children. Your prayers and your financial and in-kind support are vital to sustaining the LCA operational budget for 2017. In the new year, LCA has plans to add new curriculum modules like graphic design and reading skills plus expanding LCA’s outreach by providing organized sports programming for children living in North and Central America. The LCA family believes all kids deserve an opportunity to play organized sports no matter what their circumstances. Sports can do wonderful things for an individual, especially a developing child. Inspiring these kids to play sports can empower them, and at the same time heal hearts. Too many children are without Physical Education or other athletic activities. Children living in low-income families in the western hemisphere are least likely to participate in sports. One of the biggest factors in whether a child is involved in youth sports is money.
