HELLO DONORS, I hope this campaign finds the right person I need to step into my life and help in a life changing way. Divorcing my Abuser is only the simple version of why I need YOU. Standing here today at 33 years old is a humbling experience and I am very proud of all the goals I have already met on my own, but I still need a little boost in getting where I need to be. In 2011 I met the man I would go on to marry and have a family with. If only that teenage version of me knew everything I knew today, I’d probably have not ended up in this hell loop of misery and the victim of not only physical abuse but mental and emotional abuse as well as sexual coercion I have endured at the hands of my abuser. we married back in 2015 and he changed very drastically over the next decade. I was eventually isolated from friends and family, under full financial control due to him not allowing me to work. by the time I understood I was a victim, I didn’t see a way out. One abusive night close to my 32 birthday, my husband strangled me to a point where I went deaf temporarily. it was a massive wake up call that this was only going to get worse. i happened to have a few hundred bucks in my pocket from birthday funds and decided to get my kids and myself out and hit the road. I left my home down in Louisiana and drove nearly 1,000 miles to my brother’s house in Kansas. Very soon I was finding good therapy and have found a steady job and have been pouring into repairing my mental state. I am proud of the independence I have gained in less than a year. but now I find myself facing the next goal in life. no longer being his wife, no longer attached to his name. I am in need of a little help getting there. This campaign’s purpose is to raise money for legal representation. to have my voice and speak on my abuse and why I deserve the freedom this man stripped from me. please find it in your hearts to give a little help that changes my life. leaving an abuser comes with a lot of confusing guilt and I still don’t understand why but I am determined to keep myself and my children safe. thanks for listening, love you all!
