On 8/11/2022 at about 7:00pm Debby’s son, Luke Woosley received a phone call from his mother’s neighbor stating Debby was lying unconscious in her driveway in a large pool of blood. Law enforcement officers were called to investigate what had happened to Debby. Officers interviewed multiple neighbors but no one saw or heard anything.

Debby was transported via ambulance to the hospital where it was determined she had two areas in her brain that were bleeding. In addition, she had a nasal fracture, three fractured ribs, and a fractured collar bone.

Debby stopped breathing during her initial exam in the emergency room and the emergency room staff resuscitated her. An emergency tracheotomy was performed and Debby remained in a coma for a week. She was hospitalized for one month after surgery was performed to stop her two brain hemorrhages.

Debby was then transferred to a rehab center at a different hospital. It was determined at that point in time she had suffered a third brain hemorrhage.

Over the next three months in the rehab center, Debby was deemed incompetent and would not be able to return to her home to live an independent life and she would not be able to return to work due to her extensive brain injury.

Debby’s health insurance coverage through her employer was terminated. The hospital discharged Debby from the Neurological Intensive Care Unit rehab facility one week after her health insurance was terminated.

Now Debby’s son is struggling to pay her hospital bills which are in excess of $70,000.00. In mid-November, Debby was transferred to a Memory Care Facility. The cost of her care at this facility is $6,500.00 per month.

There were no witnesses to what happened to Debby. What happened to her is still a mystery. Unfortunately, Debby is not able to tell her story about what happened. Did she trip or lose her balance and fall? Debby needs help and support to cover the cost of her hospital bills and the expense of the memory care facility. Please consider making a tax deductible donation to her fund. Any amount will be greatly appreciated!

UPDATE:

In mid-December 2022 Debby was transferred to a different memory care facility. Her level of care was increased and she is responding better.

The cost of Debby’s care at this facility is over $8,000.00 per month. Her family is required to self-pay the monthly costs for two years before applying for Medicaid benefits.

Debby loves to have family and friends visit her! She resides at Bickford of Omaha, Nebraska, 7337 Hickory, Room #313, Omaha, NE 68124. If you are not able to visit Debby in person, please send her a card or letter.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. Your donations are greatly appreciated and much needed! Please continue to keep Debby and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
