My journey started August 2025.  Was having some stomach issues which I thought was acid reflux – but I was wrong. Then they thought it was a stomach hernia, and when they did the ultra sound they saw lumps on my liver. After a lot more tests we discovered it was colon cancer that spread to the liver.  It’s now almost a year later still undergoing treatments, but I’m doing much better.  Although I do have insurance, I have discovered that co-pays add up really quickly. Additional treatments such as Occupational Therapy and Acupuncture are only partially covered, and they only allow for so many treatments – even though many more are needed.

The cost of eating healthy is much more expensive than I ever thought – but is necessary in order to keep on the weight. Unfortunately, so many foods don’t have any flavor or taste like cardboard and it can take trying 2 or 3 items before you actually find something you can eat – which is not exactly cost effective. Also they don’t warn you that you will probably lose so much weight that none of your cloths will fit and you have to purchase a bunch of new things so your pants don’t fall off in public.  And of course since many people lose their hair, there are wigs or hats that need to be purchased.  Lastly chemo really dries out the skin so you end up having to purchase a TON of moisturizers to help keep skin in good condition.  All of these things have caused my credit card to get an extremely high balance.  Unfortunately, there appears to be many more months to go before I get to “ring the bell” so just looking for some assistance.
