I am from Ecuador and certainly a cause that interests me is the Galapagos Islands, according to the British source “Six hundred miles off the coast of Ecuador lie the volcanic Galapagos Islands, famous for a wealth of unique plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. The Galapagos Islands were the source of Darwin’s theory of evolution and remain an invaluable living laboratory for scientists today.” The relationship of the Gapalagos Island with climate change, unfortunately has a direct relationship that impacts biodiversity, weather patterns and the ecosystem, among others. And the impact extends to temperature changes; ocean acidification; altered weather patterns; droughts and water shortages and invasive species.
I want to inspire the community to raise funds to support conservation projects that protect endangered species and promote sustainable land use practices on the islands, helping local communities reduce their environmental footprint and protect natural resources. This includes promoting more sustainable renewable energy, water conservation and tourism.
