Robert Moore is a beloved member of our family—our “adopted uncle” and true family by choice who has lived with us since 2012. When we first met Robert he was living with someone who was taking advantage of him. He had been hit by a car, and while in the hospital she had moved all his belongings out of his room and moved him under the stairs in a storage room. Soon after meeting him, he moved in with us. Following his cancer diagnosis, Robert has been placed under hospice care so he can spend his remaining days surrounded by the people who love him most.
Our primary focus is making sure Robert is as comfortable, peaceful, and supported as possible during this time. We want to fulfill his final wishes and prepare for his upcoming funeral expenses so we can give him the meaningful, heartfelt farewell he truly deserves.
To care for Robert at home, my self-employed husband has stepped back from taking on full work jobs so he can be present by Robert’s side. While this allows us to cherish every moment together, the financial strain on our family has become overwhelming as medical and living expenses continue to mount.
