I am a 54 year old who was diagnosed with a Stage 3, negative 3, aggressive breast cancer. My cancer doctor had to hit me pretty hard with chemotherapy because of this. I have been unable to work because of this and I currently have no income. My family has been trying to help me as much as they can but they really don’t have much. The chemotherapy makes me really sick and the anti-nausea meds make me sick. I have been hospitalized more than once because of the chemo so I have to get a shot after my chemo to boost my immune system. I currently have surgery scheduled for next month to get a double mastectomy. I am so greatful that I have a great team taking care of me. I am hoping to get approved for disability, temporarily, until I can get back on my feet. I am only asking for what I absolutely need for bills. I have to go back to my cancer doctor after surgery for further treatment. She is pretty sure, by my MRI, that I will probably have some residule cancer cells. This journey has not been easy and it has certainly taught me not to take anything for granted. Disability has a strict requirement that they will not approve you unless your disability keeps you off work for 1 year. I was quite healthy until this happened so, unfortunately, I did not sign up for short or long term disability through my work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much and have a wonderful day.
