Hello kind people… I’m in breast cancer patient, early 60’s who is in need of temporary help. I’ve been on both sides of this fence, as a giver and now as someone who needs help. It’s a humbling experience, but no one can get through this life without help from the kindness of others at some time. I recently finished my treatments (surgery, chemo, radiation) in September 2021 and was terminated from my job in early October.
I’ve applied for unemployment benefits, but they are backlogged and “in review.” I was told it might take 2-3 months. In the meantime, I will have to pay my rent for December while I am investigating finding alternate housing and new employment. It’s all overwhelming … trying to heal my body, which is extremely tired from the treatments and the cancer, trying to find new employment and housing, and having to monitor through testing a potential secondary cancer. If I could manage 30 days without worrying about how I will pay my rent, my mind can focus on trying to heal and move forward.
