Many of you know Maria Rodriguez as an amazing woman who is always there to help everyone and anyone doesn’t matter if you’re family or a friend she is always there. She has helped so many in her life that she has adopted many of our friends and calls them her kids, and our friends have always known her as Mom. She has built trust and relationships with everyone she meets and is always a call or text away. She always puts everyone around her first and she never stops even when we tell her she needs to slow down she keeps going. She is not only a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a cousin, a friend, a mom, and the patriarch of our whole family. She is also our superhero! And last Spring (March 2022) our superhero was diagnosed with Sarcoma, an uncommon group of cancers that arise in the bones, and connective tissue such as fat and muscle. For our mom, it is A tumor that occurred in the soft tissues next to her stomach. The tumor is the size of a softball and has shifted her stomach and all surrounding organs out of place. When she was first diagnosed they began to attack the tumor with a strong chemo treatment but unfortunately, her body started to fail drastically and immediately they had to stop the chemo treatment which resulted in us almost losing the rock in our family. After a month of constant tests being done and medications given to her to help make her strong again, she was finally able to come home. Since being sent home the doctors have her on a chemo treatment that she gets done every other week. During this past year, she has been treated for different illnesses due to her not having an immune system, including a virus that developed in her bloodstream, mouth and esophagus. Before they found the tumor she was dealing with heart issues and now her heart is failing and due to her heart condition the only option for her is to continue the chemo treatments for the rest of her life. We are currently looking for other options to help her. Medical bills are starting to pile up and her medical insurance is only able to cover so much. We are asking for help to cover bills and expenses. Any help will be greatly appreciated. We also ask that you can please just keep her in your thoughts and prayers and we will keep everyone updated.
