Two years ago, at only 62 years old, my husband was diagnosed with Dementia (from Alzheimer’s), his disease is progressing more quickly than the doctors typically see. As a result, I tried my best to fulfill his “bucket list” and give him the best memories. Then, he developed prostate cancer!!! He is currently in remission; however, his dementia is getting progressively worse and will soon need more medical care and an in-home aide. Medical bills and expenses continue to add to this already stressful situation! Our savings are depleted and as a result, I alone am his caregiver. As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking but I love him and do all that I can to give him the best quality of life that he has left. With that said, this has been very tough both physically and emotionally.
Now, I have been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and am having medical issues too! Not certain as to how we are going to navigate this financial mess nor survive all of this! Medically bills and expenses are astronomical and we live on social security disability now. my husband did construction and I was a teacher. So, we had had successful careers, but they were not lucrative. Hence, our savings was not enough to sustain us through these medical crises.
While it is with a heavy heart that I seek help from someone, we are simply at a crossroad that I would not want anyone else to have to bear. Any generosity would be greatly appreciated….. we thank you.
