  • An update on my son’s healing process.  He is doing well and the bones are fusing properly but he has limited use of his right arm.  Not sure when he will get clearance to go back to work.   The medical bills are pouring in and the stress of no income is overwhelming.  We have had generous support but are still asking for help.  Thankful for the love and support..

Life sometimes throws you a curve, and you have to reach out to loved ones and friends for help. Here is my plea for some financial assistance for my son.

My son, Andrew Birt, has had some life challenges with his liver disease but has been able to manage his health and finances.  However, he was injured from a bike accident in early November.  He had to avoid being hit by a car while riding his bike and fell from a sudden braking incident, causing a  broken collarbone with a “Z” break that needs surgery to repair.  This will be a short-term disability up to 14 weeks without income.  His financial status will not allow him to go 14 weeks without any income.  Fortunately, he has Marketplace insurance but with insurance deductible costs of over $3600, costs of his prescriptions for his liver disease, future physical therapy copays, and his with normal living costs this accident will leave him in dire straits.  Andrew lives with my husband and me, so we are able to assist in his food and housing.

His employer does not cover any insurance benefits or are willing to provide short-term disablility insurance such as Aflac.   We have exhausted our search for any State or Government assistance.

I am so blessed to have so many giving and loving friends and family that I am hoping to reach out for help with this unfortunate life hurdle that Andrew has to endure.   Any amount is not too small and will be greatly appreciated.  Your donation is tax-deductible.

Sometimes it takes a village to help out and I am so grateful for those who can help out.
