Hello, my name is Anna. My mother and grandfather lost everything in the Oregon Rd Wildfire in Elk Washington on August 18, 2023. Both of their houses have been completely destroyed as well as everything that my grandfather built including a sawmill and planer that he used to build his house. They only had minutes to get out before everything went up in flames so they could only leave with a few essentials and the clothes on their backs. We are asking for donations for a fresh start to the livelihood that was lost. These funds will be designated to the lost income as well as the essentials for living life such as clothes, food, eventually furniture, and the cleanup after the fire. My moms is a single mother with 2 children living at home, one school age and one who just graduated recently. My grandfather is an 87 year-old widow who built his whole livelihood from the ground up with his own two hands. Purchasing land back in the 60s and raising his 5 children and giving home to numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. His wife of 63 years passed away almost 5 years ago and his home contained everything he had left of her and the life they built together. Both of their houses are a total loss and the cleanup is going to be extensive as well as other buildings on the property. We have many memories of playing with cousins and camp outs in each other’s yards growing up. I remember there was a tree in grandpa’s back yard that he planted when I was little that we used to measure when I was at his house until it grew taller than me. We also used to climb the big willow tree in front of the house as high as we could. That willow tree was planted the year my late uncle Brian was born. Please feel free to donate as they regain the loss of their homes.
