My dear sister/friend Erika F. Lopez lost her husband of 17 years Richard Lopez after a swift and consuming battle with pancreatic cancer. Richard departed this life on October 17th, 2024, leaving his wife and 4 of 5 children (ages 28-M, 24-F, 16-M, 14-M (dec.), and 11-F) to carry on. Although their Provider is no longer with us, we ask the village to stand in the gap.
She is also fighting the systems of this world. The corporate systems in place have failed both Richard and Erika. He paid into corporate systems through his time, and effort. Likely forsaking himself, to show up, be present, to give, and to elect certain benefits. Corporations offer benefits and incentives by way of Medical and Dental, Disability Insurance (Long Term/Short Term), and even Life Insurance policies to care for a spouse and dependents in the event of your death. The current state of Richard’s benefits in life, and now upon his death are either slow in manifesting or not manifesting at all. These systems are there to attempt to make us comfortable and assured that somehow, we will have benefits, but the spirit of assurance is sometimes lost. No excellence can be found when you are denied from what was supposed to be a basic assurance.
