Due to a change in her living situation, Kimberly porter will be moving into some type of independent living facility in June. She will continue to stay in the Maryland area, near her sister and her family. We’re hoping that she can thrive in a facility where she can engage in activities, make new friends, and become as healthy as possible.
It has been 3 years since she had her stroke(s). Unfortunately, she has not shown any improvement. She continues to be physically weak, cognitively impaired, and has not been able to work (therefore, has no income). She will need to live in a facility that offers some assistance (meals, med reminders, etc). She has been denied social security disability payments twice already. We are hopeful that her disability appeal will be approved soon (with the help of a lawyer), but that could take up to 6 to 9 months.
In the meantime, I decided to create this fundraiser to help reduce her financial burdens. Any amount that you can give will be a blessing to her (and to us, her family). These funds will be used to pay for rent, food, and other supplies that she will need. He might also need to hire a caretaker part-time.
We had hoped to see her recover and get back on her feet, but the process has been slow. She may need assistance for the long-term. We are taking this step-by-step. Your prayers and support, as always, are always appreciated. Thank you so much for your care and concern for Deborah (and us).
