On September 9, 2023 Conner and Neil were involved in a horrible, life-threatening accident. Thankfully, Conner managed to only get a few scrapes and bruises. Unfortunately, Neil wasn’t as lucky! He was definitely blessed, but he has a bruised kidney, a broken left hand, a severely broken left leg which required immediate surgery using a portion of cadaver bone to repair the damaged portion of Neil’s upper tibia, which was forcefully pushed down by the impact of his femur slamming downward into his tibia. For at least three months his left leg must be completely non weight bearing. That unfortunately also means that Neil will be unable to walk or work for 3 months! He is the sole source of income for their family. They now have medical expenses as well. Neil needs a couple of specialized pieces of medical equipment to assist in his care over these next three months. Sadly, enough even though these things are absolutely necessary for Neil’s safety and survival during this difficult time, these pieces of medical equipment are not covered by insurance. His children and disabled wife are trying their best to care for him and their entire family, but they need help. To make matters more complicated, Neil’s wife is also having surgery on September 22 to place a gastric stimulator, which will cause more difficulties in caring for Neil and the needs of the family.
