I am a 70 yr old single woman battling ovarian cancer. I have been in treatment for two years. I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Had major surgery , hysterectomy, spleen removed, partial bowel removal. I had to have a colostomy and finally had it reversed nine months ago. Sadly I developed severe neuropathy in my feet and hands from chemotherapy medication. They now feel it might be permanent since it has been over a year since the onset. I now have a cane to help keep my balance since I have very little feeling in my feet. I am also dealing with polymyalgia rheumatic arthritis. I never had any major issues till I was diagnosed with cancer. So far this year, there have been no open grants. I’ve applied to every organization that helps cancer victims. Even my advocate hasn’t been able to find anything in my area.

My copay for my treatment every three weeks is 635.00. Doctors don’t want me to stop my maintenance, but after two years of high copay, I don’t know if I will have any choice. I have always worked two jobs to support myself for over 14 years till I retired, then continued to work part-time in retail. I have been on my own for over 25 years. I moved my mother in with me after my stepfather passed. I took care of her till she passed at 93 four years ago. I live very modestly and feel really down that I can’t work at least part-time to manage this.  I actually feel embarrassed asking for help as I’ve always managed by myself. Any help is appreciated.
