I am nearing 80 years old and my husband and I immigrated to the United States from South Africa when we were middle aged. This month, Bob passed away very unexpectedly from brain cancer. It was less than 2 months from diagnosis to death.
Bob was able to work until he passed away and we lived on that income combined with our social security. However, I have just been notified of a change in my social security. It is so low that it will not be enough to pay full rent, nor allow anything for utilities and food. I find myself in a desperate situation and in need of help.
I am in the process of selling my belongings, but this will not even begin to meet my needs. Our car is 12 years old and in need of repair, currently being only usable for local travel.
Regretfully, I must seek kind assistance.
I am requesting funding to pay back bills for which I am responsible, and for ongoing monthly expenses that would allow me to stay in our rented home and pay for food and utilities.
This situation is totally unexpected and I am humbled to need this campaign. I am seeking to raise $25,000 to meet costs as explained above.
