Richard has worked hard his entire life as a brick layer making some beautiful products including some fireplaces, outdoor grill areas, etc. His hard working days came to a screeching halt when he got diagnosed with cancer. They have had to cut out his lymph node on his right side and then his tongue from the cancer spreading. He now has a tracheostomy (incision in his throat to help him breathe) and a JPEG (feeding tube surgically implanted in his stomach for eating). He is now faced with not being able to get adequate care due to insurance, deductibles and simply lack of funds. He is in a physical rehabilitation facility until he gets strong enough to come home and do radiation and possibly chemotherapy, which he will need round the clock care 24/7 and everyone works but we are all banning together and doing the best we can. The worst part, not just for us, but for him, is that this is the first Halloween he hasn’t gotten to enjoy dressing up, scaring the kids and handing out candy, the first Thanksgiving he wasn’t there to do the honors in carving the turkey and enjoying all the food, including the cranberry sauce with his turkey (he and I are the only ones who like cranberry 🤷‍♀️), this will be the first Christmas he won’t be able to enjoy with family, open all the presents and share the laughter with us. He was at a point he just wanted to give up, he hates feeling like he’s a burden on anyone and this is absolutely horrible, not just the pain but being confined to a hospital bed, having to depend on others for literally everything. Please help me fight the fight of his life. Any amount, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated! From our family to yours, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! 💪🙏🫶
