Hi, my name is Tawanda Jones, and I am reaching out for support during a very difficult and unexpected season in my life. My husband recently lost his job of 12 years after a sudden management change. This was devastating for our family, not only because of the loss of income, but because we also lost our health insurance, which we heavily depended on. Losing that stability has shaken our household in ways we never imagined.
At the same time, I am currently unable to work due to injuries from a recent auto accident. I am healing, but the recovery process has forced me out of work at the worst possible moment. Now, without insurance, every doctor visit, test, and prescription is being charged at full cost. What used to be manageable with coverage has now become overwhelming.
I live with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and Early-Stage Kidney Disease, a condition that tragically runs in my family. I have already lost my father, two of my sisters, and my brother to End-Stage Kidney Disease. Their battles were heartbreaking, and I have been doing everything in my power to prevent my own condition from progressing. I have worked closely with my doctors, stayed consistent with medications, and followed a treatment plan that was helping me stay stable.
But now, without the ability to afford my medications—especially Mounjaro—my symptoms have started to worsen. I can feel my health shifting, and it terrifies me because I know exactly what untreated kidney disease can lead to. I do not want to become another loss in my family. I want to be here. I want to live long enough to enjoy my six children and my grandchildren, who are my entire world.
The funds raised through this campaign will help us cover at least two months of medical expenses, prescriptions, and basic needs until my husband is able to secure new employment and I can fully recover and return to work.
