Hi.
I’m Shawn. A proud 61-year-old, 100% disabled Veteran.
People have been telling me to do this because the heating system in my house failed and needs replacing. I live on what the VA gives me and can’t afford to replace it. The space heaters cost way too much electricity each month.
If you think asking like this isn’t a blow to my ego. You are very wrong. Anything you can help with is appreciated. Even if you know a heating pro in my Utah area willing to do it grattis would help.
It actually went out last year since I’ve had two stents placed in my heart through the VA and for almost two years prior. I haven’t been able to walk due to a bad hip. Needless to say, I was in a lot of pain. My hip was recently replaced, and I’m walking better. Sometimes with the use of a walker, or other assistance device.
Until I couldn’t walk without pain riding my motorcycle. (Donated to charity) Had I known the heater would go out I would have sold it to cover the cost. (Hindsight is truly 20/20)
Also, the reason that I decided to swallow my pride this time is because of some of the people I used to ride with. We had a charity motorcycle group called “R.I.F-R.A.F It stands for “Riding in friendship, Riding as family. We would donate to all kinds of causes. A few off the top of my head. (The most special to me) Widows and orphans of fallen Soldiers. Local women’s shelter as well as The Children’s Justice Center where Children were taken in if they were removed from their families for any number of reasons. Like abusive parents or parents in jail to a myriad of other things. Rides for all kinds of things.
I guess my point is that my friends reasoned that because I have done things like this since I was in Junior High School, it wouldn’t be unheard of for me to ask. I now realize how hard it was for all those others in need to ask. It sure is humbling..
