Hi. My brother Thomas Marotta was diagnosed with colon cancer after having a heart attack. He was at stage 3 and under went chemotherapy and eventually was given a colonoscopy bag. After almost a year he was having a hard time living with bag and asked doctors to remove it. They thought he responded well to his treatments and removed the bag . After a few more months went by they did a routine CT only to find out the cancer has not only returned but was spreading rapidly throughout his torso area. The only options left were to do chemo again or accept his fate. After careful consideration he decided he just could not endure the pain of chemotherapy again. So he has accepted his fate and the doctors gave him under six months. With that being said we called for Hospice to help and that they are. Its been about 4 months now and his health it deteriorating rapidly. Its becoming harder to walk harder to stay awake harder to breathe and sometimes he gets confused about things but is taking it as well as could be expected. At the time of his second diagnosis he was living with his daughter who just had anew born and two toddlers to take care of. And he just couldn’t get the much needed rest there. So he asked me his sister if i could get a place for him and I and that he needed the peace and quiet. I just started a new job and loved it and my new Boss is absolutely amazing. But i myself was not in a position to afford the high rising expense of rent water electric food gas and insurance. So i did some more thinking and just decided to make it happen for him so I busted my butt at work and my boss helped me get into a place and is giving me raises to help me get to a rate that will let me afford those expenses. So my brother does receive disability and i work as many hours as I’m allowed to. But between the two of us. we still do not make enough combined to pay everything. Like I said i notice the rapid decline in his health and he really has not complained at all. I just want to keep him comfortable until he passes. It s very stressful everyday trying to make sure i come up with all the bill money for the month knowing that i do not bring enough home. So any donation just to get by and have a hot meal somedays would be greatly appreciated. Its hard to find organizations to help in our county. We definitely lack funding in our area. So please any thing will be appreciated and will help. Thank you.
