My heart is full as I share Amelia’s story, a story that has shaped our lives in ways we never imagined. Amelia is a beautiful 7-month-old baby girl who has already shown more strength and resilience than many adults do in a lifetime. She was born prematurely at 33 weeks and has faced several complex medical challenges since the moment she arrived. Among her diagnoses are esophageal atresia, esotropia, and severe gastroesophageal reflux disease. Because of these conditions, she relies on G-tube feedings, and she is currently under the care of a palliative care team that supports her ongoing medical needs.
Amelia is monitored closely by her gastroenterology team, who work hard to manage her symptoms and keep her as comfortable as possible. She will require additional surgeries in the future to repair her throat and improve her ability to eat and grow. These procedures, along with her daily medical supplies and treatments, come with significant financial demands that can be overwhelming.
Yet, despite all she has endured—hospital visits, procedures, and countless challenges—Amelia continues to shine. She is the happiest, most joyful little girl, always smiling and bringing light to everyone around her. Her strength inspires me every single day, and I love her more than words can express.
