Hello, my name is Joyce, I am 100% disabled veteran. I moved from California to Texas to escape a domestic violence relationship. When I moved here, I wasn’t aware that I needed a Texas ID/DL in order to get my taxes paid thru my benefits. I thought my California DL, military ID, or disability letter from the VA would be enough for proof to get an ID/DL. But due to being a First-time resident of Texas they said an original birth certificate is required. I’ve had troubles getting a Texas ID/DL because I don’t have a birth certificate, because I was a home birth with no hospital record. Only certificate thru the church. I have reached out to New York vital records to see how to get my birth certificate. It is in the works, but unfortunately, they are backed up months and bills keep piling up!! I’m currently 4 months behind on my mortgage and bills. I have reached out to different programs for help and people who have tried to see what they can do to help me. At this point I’m lost on any other outlets to use to get this resolved. I’m looking for help from the community that I bravely served until I can get my benefits situated. If anyone also knows someone or yourself that can help me with this, please let me know. I’m desperate at this point. I’m on the verge of losing my home. I don’t want to have to go back to California. I have found peace and have made Texas my home. I’m hoping y’all can find it in y’alls heart to help me in my time of need. anything is appreciated.
