On Saturday August 17th, my stepdad George was rushed to the hospital because he had fallen. We suspected that he had broken something but was not sure what. My mom who was diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy was not able to go with him to the hospital and waited 3 hours for me to drive down to her. 45 minutes before we got to the hospital, George had gone into cardiac arrest, and they couldn’t keep his heart beating with a rhythm. They did everything they could to keep him comfortable until we were able to get there, due to the circumstances at hand.
My mom and George were married for 17 years, and he was about to celebrate his 81st birthday on the 7th of September. He was her rock. He helped her with so much around the house, from mowing the grass, to vacuuming the floor, or helping her cook dinners. They were inseparable. Listening to them bicker and fight was like watching an episode of I Love Lucy when Fred and Ethel would get to picking on each other.
My mom worked up until a year ago when he legs began to give out on her, and that is when she found out that she has diabetic neuropathy and had to stop working due to not being able to walk or get around easily.
My mom is on disability and found out that George did not have a life insurance policy set up. With all this happening so unexpectedly, she has been left with footing all the bills by herself with no way to be able to afford the bills and the funeral costs.
Please help in any way you can. Every little bit will help her cover the costs of the bills and the funeral costs.
