My name is Patience Winfrey. I am 33 years old. I currently reside in New Orleans, LA. I am the mother of a 13 year old angel baby and a 11 year old very active boy. In 2012, I was diagnosed with Peripartum Cardiomyopathy in addition to congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and the list goes on. My heart did recover but after the loss of my oldest due to an accident, I suffered from depression and the stress of everything took a toll on my body and heart. My heart percentage dropped and didn’t fully recovered. By the grace of God, I received my heart transplant Saturday June 28th, 2025. Its been a long continuous journey to recovery. December 16th 2025 I had a CT scan for the blood clot I had in July to make sure it was gone and praise God it was but we had a bigger problem on our hands. I had buildup fluid surrounding the new heart. I also was in rejection. I started the treatments back in December. I had a new hospital visit in January due to left sides weakness with my arm and leg. I had a EMG test done a few days ago and was told I have a case of carpal tunnel on my left side. We will have to figure out what the next steps are with that. When we did a head MRI we found micro hemorrhages but by the grace of God they weren’t new. Since transplant it has been a battle but I’m continuing the fight. Some days I feel like giving up some days I know there are others who are fighting worse battles than myself so I don’t complain. I did change my fundraising goal and I am going to continue to keep you all updated as I continue this journey. I am going next week to do my biopsy to see if I am out of rejection fingers crossed.
