Hello, I’m Yasmina. I’m 21 years old. I suffer from achondroplasia. Achondroplasia is a disorder of bone growth that prevents the changing of cartilage (particularly in the long bones of the arms and legs) into bone. It is characterized by dwarfism and can cause health complications such as interruptions in breathing, obesity, recurrent ear infections, and an exaggerated inward curve of the lumbar spine. My legs have hurt so much since I was a kid that I can’t even handle the pain now, but as I got older, solutions were found for this case. I need 3 surgeries that will involve an external fixator and 6 skewers. The fixator is the solution to my problem.
