Update June 22, 2021:
CONGRATULATIONS to Will and the Class of 2021!!!! 🎓 👏
A huge accomplishment under the best of circumstances, a MONUMENTAL accomplishment despite the medical challenges! Determination, perseverance, prayers, family, friends, love…and WillPower! 🙌 👊
The Fight Continues
Will has been admitted into a trial for a therapy to address the problem with his liver. This new trial will require that he visit Houston every two weeks for six weeks until the Doctor can dial in the dosage of the new medications. After that, he will visit once a month until the trial ends. They are continuing to look at other treatment options while the trial is underway. The traditional immunotherapy for cancer has not proven effective with renal medullary carcinoma (RMC), but there is a new immunotherapy that should be accepted for use in the next 3-6 months. The fight isn’t over and we ask that you continue to pray for our Warrior and his family. 🙏
Update May 2, 2021
Good morning Warriors!!! ☀️ I am thrilled to report that the trip to MD Anderson in Houston, TX was successful and VERY promising! ALL THE TUMORS ARE SHRINKING!!!! 🙌 The doctors are very optimistic, but cautious, and want Will to continue chemo treatments for another 6 weeks to monitor the tumors until they stop shrinking. They encouraged the Coughlon family that any remnants visible at that point are likely scar tissue. This is fantastic news and we are all hopeful that the next trip in June will be the end of chemo. During the next visit they will also do an MRI to check on how Will’s liver is holding up through treatments. We continue to pray for healing and positive test results!! 🙏During all of this, Will maintained his school work and is going to graduate with his class in June! Woooowhooooo!!!!! 🥳👊Congratulations to the Knights of 2021!!! 👏👏
Update April 19, 2021
Good evening Warriors! The Coughlon’s are at a crucial stage of their battle and need ALL of us warriors to pray over the next week and a half. Pray for healing and miracle results that show the treatments have been successful! Pray for their safe travels, comfort, and strength through this next series of tests. Your support, prayers, and love make such a difference to the family and have provided such comfort through a very challenging time. God bless you all!
Update March 21, 2021
Greetings Warriors! I am happy to say that no news is good news. It has been a while since I last updated you, but things are going well. The Coughlon family is staying strong and positive as they continue to press forward with work, school, sports, activities, treatments, and family life. Will is progressing through rounds of treatments with the help of his incredible family and medical team. By the grace of God, his kidney and liver functions are good and blood transfusions are helping to raise his platelet count. After his sixth treatment cycle ends in April, they will once again travel to Houston’s MD Anderson to check on his progress. Please continue to keep the Coughlon’s in your prayers and use this page to send notes, post photos, share prayers, and send virtual hugs. All your thoughts and prayers truly make a difference!
