Hello everyone,
This is really hard for me to write because Nick and I usually keep our lives pretty private, but we’re going through something serious right now and I need to ask for help.
Nick had emergency back surgery today (5/30/2025), and he still has to undergo heart surgery. We’re not sure yet whether it will be open-heart surgery or a stent — he needs a special heart scan to determine that. He also has an artery that’s not in the right location, and the scan should help the surgeon locate it. If they do need to perform open-heart surgery, that artery will be critical for the bypass.
Nick has many other conditions that are not quite as serious as his spine and heart issues. All of his doctors are a 2-hour drive from us. We have to borrow a car because we do not own one. Nick will have to undergo therapy from his spine surgery and cardiac rehabilitation after his heart surgery. We are hoping that both types of therapies can be done at one of our local hospitals that are only a 30-minute drive from home.
All of his appointments and surgeries are at a hospital two hours away from us. I’m working, but it’s just not enough to cover everything — the fuel, medical supplies, medications, and even car maintenance are adding up fast.
