My dear community. It is with a heavy heart that I come here asking for your consideration in helping the Gunn family with their ongoing medical expenses. Their medical bills have become unbearable as they struggle to find a way to afford medications for their 3 young children, countless doctor’s appointments, and now extensive surgery their oldest, Olivia, needs to have done. Miss Olivia, a sweet 11-year-old, needs to have extensive surgery done this August, just a month away, to remove a 12mm mass from the base of her brain, along with a fluid-filled cyst ranging from C2-T2 of her spinal cord. The cyst on the base of Olivia’s brain causes her excruciating migraines resulting in extreme back and neck pain while making her very dizzy. After Olivia’s latest MRI scan this May, the importance of having surgery was stressed upon by a pediatric neurosurgeon due to the location of Olivia’s cyst and the size of the mass on her brain.
Olivia’s parents are nervously anticipating her surgery but are burdened with how they are going to pay for it. You see, the Gunn children, along with their mother, all suffer from different health ailments requiring them to attend countless doctor’s appointments and be on a wide range of medications. Due to the 3 children all being under the age of 12, they are only allowed certain medications, and many must be alternated as their small bodies can only tolerate so much of one medication at any given time. Their medications alone cost an average of $9,500 every two weeks and I imagine Olivia’s surgery will cost around $100,000. I ask for your help with lessening the burden of these costs, so the Gunn family can focus more on spending time together. Meals, whether made or delivered, would also be a blessing and prayers for Olivia’s surgery to go smoothly would be so greatly appreciated!
